Our Club. Your Club.
Located at Banyul-warri Fields, Merrijig Dr Torquay, the Surf Coast Football Club (SCFC) is a strong and inclusive Community Football Club that respects and develops its members by providing an enjoyable, caring and safe environment that the community can be proud of.
We are a club for everyone. Men, women, girls and boys. We encourage participation, teach excellence, and play fair. We promote a spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork that promotes healthy competition. We focus on development of technical skills and tactical understanding, enabling players to reach their highest potential, and instil values that promote strength of character. Pull your boots on and get on board the fastest growing club in the region.
A few words from our Club President, Steve Christou
A huge welcome to the 2021 season! After such a difficult 2020, when not much football was played, we look forward to a brighter future thanks to the continued support of you, our members. The challenge of COVID-19 remains with us this season, both as a Club and individually, but we look ahead, with excitement, to a much smoother year.
At Surf Coast FC, we pride ourselves on being a family friendly, community-based club. With many more families now residing in the Surf Coast and Geelong region, we not only look forward to seeing our existing members again soon but encourage and welcome new families to join our Club. We hope to see our membership base grow from just under 500 registered players in 2019 to in excess of 550 in 2020 and 600 in 2021.
As part of our inclusive philosophy, we cater to a wide range of abilities. In 2021, the Club is offering:
Kickstart program for children aged 4-7 years,
Hub teams for children aged 8-11 years,
Junior competitions for boys and girls aged 12-17 years, and
Metro Senior teams and local Senior competition.
More information about each of these offerings, as well as our player pathway, can be found on the website.
With our third pitch now complete, we look forward to the continued development of our Pavilion and clubrooms, which are being constructed in collaboration with the Surf Coast Shire and State Government. This development will not only add to our already amazing facility, but take it to the next level, showcasing us as an established, professional, well supported, community-based club.
Surf Coast FC places a strong emphasis on player development and will continue to also offer the Academy. This program aims to support and further the development of players in the Surf Coast region. This year, the Academy will be led by Blaine Burrell who will work closely with Michael Cooper, who continues as the club’s Technical Advisor.
Mark Wyeth will take on the role of Head Coach of the Women's team, furthering the great work achieved by Mariela Pocklington with the Senior Women, and Rob Panetta will remain Head Coach of the Senior Men.
The Club is looking to grow Women’s football and will offer a pathway for our girls that includes a progression for a Women’s State League team in either 2022 or 2023. This is exciting for our girls and is in line with our strategic direction for growth.
I would like to take a moment to thank all returning and incoming coaching coordinators, coaches, team managers and volunteers for the coming season. We could not operate without you.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank the Committee for their skill, expertise and hard work. This Club would not exist without you.
