SCFC Junior Girls Community Premier League - 2025 Season

Surf Coast Football Club (SCFC) is excited to announce our acceptance into the Junior Girl Community Premier League from 2025. Entry into this competition is by successful application only and sits between the local community leagues and the National Premier League (NPL).

Surf Coast Football Club invites junior girls aged 11-17 (birth years 2014 - 2008) to apply to trial for our u13, u15 and u17 CPL teams. Girls who registered as part of our trials in October do NOT need to re-apply, your previous application remains valid, please attend the trials.

Trials will be held on Wednesday 15th January and Wednesday 22nd January at the below times. If you cannot attend either trial date, please still register and let us know and we will try and run an additional session, depending on numbers.
u13 (2014-2012) team – 4:30 - 5:30pm
u15 (2011 and 2010) and u17 (2009 and 2008) teams– 5:45 – 6:45pm

Please Note, SCFC will still be offering teams in all Juniors age-groups in Geelong competitions in addition to these teams. Further information will be provided on this following our normal registrations process early in 2025.

What is the JGCPL?
The Junior Girls Community Premier League (JGCPL) is a prestigious competition run by Football Victoria, offering young female players the opportunity to play competitive football in a fun, community-focused environment. It emphasises skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Surf Coast Football Club is proud to be part of this league, providing access to this pathway for players in our region.

What are the benefits of joining Surf Coast FC for the JGCPL?
• Access to Quality Coaching: Our experienced coaches are dedicated to helping players improve their skills and develop a deep understanding of the game. Our JGCPL teams will have a Technical Director to assist and guide the coaches.
• Player Pathways: Participation in the JGCPL can lead to recognition in Football Victoria talent programs and opportunities for progression to higher levels of competition.
• Community Connection: Representing Surf Coast FC allows players to connect with others from the local area, fostering friendships and community pride.
• Convenient Location: Our facilities are easily accessible for families in the Surf Coast region, reducing travel burdens compared to clubs further afield.

When does the season run?
The JGCPL season runs from April to September, with training sessions starting in February. Matches are held on weekends, alternating between home and away venues.

Where are matches played?
Home matches are hosted at Surf Coast FC’s facilities, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for players and families. Away games are held at other community sports venues across Victoria. Games are played on Sunday.

What are the costs?
Participation fees include registration, training, match-day costs, and uniforms. Surf Coast FC is committed to providing clear and competitive pricing, and we’re happy to discuss payment plans if needed. Prices for 2025 will be finalised at the AGM in January.

Why choose Surf Coast FC?
Surf Coast FC provides a unique opportunity for girls in our region to compete in a high-calibre league while staying connected to their local community. With a focus on player development and enjoyment, we’re excited to support the next generation of female football talent in the Surf Coast area. SCFC has a strong and fast-growing girls football program that starts with our MiniRoos (u7-11) that is run under our Coerver partnership.

Terms and conditions

  • General Terms and Conditions - SCFC Pathways Teams 2025

Parents are to remain on-site for the trial session (or have an assigned adult as guardian).

    Notes and Considerations
    1. This proposal was adopted by the SCFC Committee on the 9th Oct. 2024. It will be rolled out as identified but specific elements of the approach may change as required.
    2. A Code of Conduct will be developed for selected team members, coaches and volunteers to ensure all stakeholders are clear on expectations
    3. Teams will train twice a week, with expectations that, barring unexpected unavailability, players will train a minimum of 3 sessions a fortnight
    4. Metro and CPL games are played on Sunday. (noting this is different from Junior girls' Geelong who play Saturday)
    5. Once the Final Team is selected, players will be expected to remain with the team for the entire season, unless the club determines that the player would be better suited to an alternate team.
    6. Whilst the teams selected will be higher-performing, SCFC does not enter teams into these leagues in a must win at all costs approach. There must be a balance between player interests, team dynamics, club values and ultimately SCFC Committee decisions will be made that benefit the club as a whole
    7. Playing minutes for team members will not be necessarily even but all players selected for a team will get on average, 50% of game time across the season and play in every game (unless injured or other mitigating circumstances)
    8. Local teams will be entered for the Geelong Community competition, in all junior competitions
    9. SCFC can elect to enter a team into a Metro Melbourne Community League, it is not an application
    process
    10. Any child playing in a Metro Melbourne league (or above) cannot play in the Victorian Country
    Championships
    11. The current approach does not seek to apply for an NPL license at this stage, with this being
reviewed on an annual basis. We do note the significant upskilling of younger players and NPL is likely a serious consideration in the mid-term (depending on availability of a position).

    Age Group Eligibility

Age groups for the trials are determined based on the birth year of the child. For the 2025 season, the following birth years correspond to specific age groups:
Age Group Oldest Birth Year for 2025
    U11 2014
    U12 2013
    U13 2012
    U14 2011
    U15 2010
    U16 2009
    U17 2008
    U18 2007

For example, a child wishing to play in the U13 age group in 2025 cannot be born in 2011 without written dispensation from Football Victoria (FV) via Surf Coast Football Club (SCFC), which is unlikely for these teams.
