Ready to be part of what comes next?

Throughout the trials, selectors will assess players across several key areas:

Technical ability - skills, first touch, passing, shooting
Tactical awareness - positioning, decision-making
Physicality - fitness and commitment
Positivity - attitude and coachability

After the first trial session for each age group, players will be shortlisted and invited to continue in the selection process. The selection panel will continue to assess players against the criteria outlined above throughout the trial period.

Following the trials, training squads for each age group will be selected. These squads will be larger than the final playing squads and will provide selected players with the opportunity to continue training and being assessed. Invitations will be sent to successful trialists, and all unsuccessful trialists will also be notified of the outcome.

Training squads will then be progressively reduced to the final Metro teams during 2026. Further information regarding the timing and process for final team selection will be provided to players who are invited into the training squads.

The SCFC Committee retains final responsibility for all Pathway Team selections and will make the final decisions based on the recommendations of the selection panel.

Please note that many age-groups have attracted a very high level of interest. In accordance with Football Victoria rules, SCFC can enter only one Metro team per age group.

Further information regarding the selection process for Geelong-based community teams for 2027 will be provided in due course. These community teams will allow multiple teams per age-group and generally align to our teams in 2026.

Regards,

SCFC Pathways Committee
